Braided Horsehair Linked Pair of Horseshoe Hearts

Our classic pair of Linked Horseshoe Hearts has had an extra special update in this collaboration with Tail End Jewellery.
Choose from braiding the outer side of each heart or fill them both with a double braid on each heart – the choice is yours!
You can also add text with our usual hand stamped personalisation option.
This beautiful piece is the ultimate, tactile keepsake to remind you of that special horse.

Can I use my own horse’s shoes?

Yes indeed you can use your own horse’s shoes. Just select the option from the drop down menu. There is a small charge for using your own shoes as this covers us unpacking, booking in your shoes, labelling them, bagging them individually and dropping you an email to let you know they have arrived safely.

Likewise, if you do not have your own shoes to use, we can use some of our own used stock of shoes. If you would like to give us detail of the horse or pony whose horsehair braid we are setting within the shoes, such as their breed and height, we can do our best to select shoes that reflect that.

How much horsehair do I need?

Generally for a two braids, one either side of the heart we need a 40cm length of tail hair about a pencil width thickness. If you would like to have both sides of each heart braided please double the required amount of hair.

My horseshoes are rusty, does this matter?

Not at all! We heat and clean every shoe by hand first, before forging. This process alone removes rust. Your shoes will then be hand forged into a heart shape. nothing is cut away, one whole shoe makes one whole heart.

Can I use hair and shoes from more than one horse?

Most definitely you can. The Linked Pair of Hearts in the image with both sides of each heart braided are from two different ponies. They also use tail hair from each different pony too.

Please make sure, if you are sending shoes and/or hair from more than one horse you label each clearly as to whose shoe and hair is whose.

What is the lead time for these items?

Please be aware the lead time for braided items is approximately 4 weeks. These unique and intricate items have to go through a variety of processes to reach completion which cannot be hurried.

We aim to dispatch textile & gift voucher within 3 working days of receipt of your order.

For horseshoe creation lead times please bear in mind we are not Amazon! Please be understanding of the time, effort and care that goes into what we do. Each item is individually handcrafted. We do not bulk create and we do not buy in and resell. We make and create everything we offer here.

The majority of our pieces are hand forged and crafted to order.

In general please allow 3 weeks lead time for dispatch of your order. We do endeavour to be as quick as we can while taking time on the art we create. We combine Horseshoe Hearts work alongside farriery (and any emergencies that occur with this!) and other work, family life and our own animals.

Please allow 4/6 weeks lead time for Braided Horsehair items and Horseshoe Photo Frames.

Some larger pieces and larger bespoke orders may take longer lead time.

Please Note: If using your own horse’s shoes delivery lead times are from the date your shoes are received by us, not the order date. Please ensure shoes arrive with us as promptly as possible.

Sending your own shoes:

The address to send your horseshoes to is Horseshoe Hearts, 3 Cromer Close, Little Gaddesden, Herts, HP4 1PR. Please include a note with your name and order number so we know they are your shoes.

On check out you will be given the option to select your item under 2kg to be sent to you via Royal Mail First Class Signed For or via Special Delivery. Please note the only Special Delivery is tracked. Signed For acknowledges when the item is sent and when the item was received. It is not a tracked service. If you are sending precious shoes we recommend Special Delivery or other Tracked and Signed Service.

All items over 2kg will be sent with a courier (usually UPS) and are sent on a tracked and signed service.

International Orders:

We are happy to ship to most locations worldwide. International Delivery is for International Standard delivery. Approx. transit/shipping time between 5-10 days depending on your location. We cannot guarantee shipping times.
